About the IEP Billing Program
Minnesota Statute 256B was amended in 1989, requiring School Districts to enroll as MA providers. School districts and other LEAs must bill the Department of Human Services (DHS) for students covered by Medical Assistance (MA) and MinnesotaCare (MNCare) or bill directly to other applicable private insurance carriers for all compensable IEP/IFSP/IIIP medical/mental health-related services. The statute was again amended in 2000, to provide for additional services and improvement of the program (SF2225). Parents must consent to release of minimal record information required for submission of claims. The parental consent is only required once for children with MA/MNCare. Annual consent is required for students with private insurance coverage.
